video of the first 12min (minus 1 boring lap so it's under the 10min youtube limit + nice VTEC oversteer at 9:38):
Changes from Sears:
- replaced Moton Club Sports (900F/800R) with Moton triples (900F/950R)
- changed front sway from MY02 -> 1.25" solid bar (Saner) on softest setting
- removed rear sway
- corner balanced and aligned: camber: 3.5F/2.5R; toe: 0F/1/16R
- reduced wing angle from "a lot" to "reasonable" <- need to measure
Race:
- Trygve (maroon boxster gridded to my right) got the jump at the start but he made a mistake in Sunset later on and I got past. I think I could have eventually passed Tom but he had overheating problems and eased up. The yellow gen1-Elise was obviously faster but had a problem and gridded at the back (his other car is the WC winning Exige from Long Beach).
- lots of oil blow-by over Phil hill and the bus stop - at one point I could see it in the cabin; started to ease up a little and then I got a fuel warning light (gauge read as low as 0.8g but settled at 2g when stopped) so I eased up even more and let Trygve back past and cruised to 11th.
- Overall lots of fun but I wish I had the catch-can and more fuel cause I was catching the pack ahead of me
Car setup (shock legend - clicks out from full stiff; rebound/hi-speed/low-speed):
- impacts over the bumps felt a bit too harsh; changed dampers from 3/3/2 to 4/4/2 at all 4 corners - better
- power-oversteer much more controllable than before - presumable due to new diff and no rear sway
- felt a little bit of hi-speed understeer but much less than before - no changes while I was learning the track and thinking about the suspension
- mild understeer on turn-in, milder mid-corner, and very neutral on power
- easy to control power oversteer! - see 9:38 into the video
- lifting inside front in the pic above - maybe front sway is too stiff?
- want to lower the front more but fender liners in the way
- gearing was good at my moderate pace but I will be running out of 5th into sunset and Phi hill; running out of 4th into the bus stop
Driving critique (first pass before through analysis of video or data):
- best lap was a 2'15.x - pretty slow; 4 fast spots for improvement to lower laptimes:
- take way more curb in the bus stop - RIGHT side tires should be almost touching the curb
- Riverside; I was cruising
- esses
- over Phil hill
- I felt awkward through cotton corners and people seemed to gain a little on me there; myriad bumps and curbs made me conservative
