Fun track day with Lotus Club. I'm feeling more comfortable pushing the car but there's still lots of room to go faster. A few pics from the day: http://cracknut.smugmug.com/Cars/trackdaysracing/Thunderhill-GGLC-2010-05-18/12240248_njtvZ#872283219_yjRTP 2 quick laps (both in the 2:06s, would be a 2:05.x if best of both were combined) - click twice for hi-def: - Played with suspension a bunch - details coming; upshot was the car felt best with 4/4/2 front and 3/3/2 rear - reduced wing angle 1 turn on right and 1.5 turns on left - right rear wheel has excessive camber and it showed in the handling - left turns exhibited more understeer than rights - I'm still learning the turn-in speed this car can handle - much higher than the Evo - power felt great; the new header (jethot coated Toda) and tune were spot on - thanks Shad @ http://www.drivingambition.us - car gained 10 or peak whp and 15wtq through the midrange! - pics from the shop: http://cracknut.smugmug.com/Cars/s2k-racecar/Driving-Ambition-Tune/12240127_FbsfZ#872272123_kbEia More notes: At the Golden Gate Lotus Club track outing at Thunderhill the next day, I got through 6 20min sessions with only 17 gals of 92.8 octane (20% 100 and 80% 91). The Evo easily used more than 2x as much. I also discovered that I can run the fuel cell down to an indicated 0gal on track without starvation. Granted I still need to calibrate the sensor... I still have a ways to go but I started to feel better pushing the car. My best time was a 2:06.27 (over the top). I haven't checked the GPS data yet but I'm certain there's a theoretical best in low 2:05s. Next time I expect to be in the 2:04s or better. For more pics of the changes made to the car before this day, see the build and maintenance section. |
