Changes from last fall and a couple mechanical notes: Reinforced front upper A-arm mounts (thanks TCDesign). Replaced the stock '02 front swaybar with a Whiteline 30mm solid bar. Replaced the rear 950lb springs with 800lb springs and added a stock '04 rear swaybar. Balance was similar to before but now I have tunability in that I can disconnect the rear sway bar in slippery situations. Also added an oil temp gauge to replace the one used in the oil cooler sandwich plate. Without the oil cooler, temps jumped from ~195F to ~224F. This was on a moderate day, so I'll be using a thicker oil and attempting to improve airflow through the radiator for the summer events. The catch-can setup I have would fill the can (16oz) in <20min so I'm taking some advice and re-routing the tubing before the next event. Race 1, 16 laps: 7th overall, 4th in class: http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1831013 I forgot the rear wing and my lovely wife met me at a Petes Coffee in Fairfield with the part. So much for saving fuel on this trip to Thill. I almost made it back in time for a few minutes of practice to scuff in the new rear brake pads but at the last minute I hadn't connected the window net. No practice for me. Race was not too interesting aside from a close pass on Ron in the 914 when he had a fuel problem exiting T2. He passed me back a few laps later because I nearly ran out of fuel. I got fuel cut in T8 on lap 13 and slowed way down after that b/c I wanted to finish the race and the cool down lap. I was still getting used to the car. Highlights: Race 2, 15 laps: 4th overall, 3rd in class: http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1831032 Qualified 4th with a mid 2:04. Race was about 3p and the weather was about 70F. Very pleasant. Had 1 moment over the top of T9 and reacted poorly. Boo. I'm still missing shifts occasionally and going into 6th instead of 4th. 2 lessons: 1) just ride out the bad shift until the corner is over. Trying to re-shift mid corner really kills the speed too much. 2) Re-evaluate my 5th to 4th shifting technique. More suspension eval coming later. For now, note that the rear dampers were 1 click softer in high-speed comp and rebound compared to race 1. I was also more confident finding the limit of the tires.
